About Us
Marks, established in 2003, was built into a historic, turn-of-the-century home nestled into a quaint business district in Omaha’s historic Dundee main-street neighborhood that has thrived since the early 1900’s.
Founders, Mark Pluhacek and Molly Romero, took over 18 months to develop their vision that Mark describes as “a neighborhood place with old-house charm, great food, a focused yet extensive wine list, exquisitely landscaped patio dining, and where people can come to spend an afternoon, an evening, or just drop in for a good meal or glass of wine.” In keeping with the neighborhood and its traditions, Mark and Molly have discovered that their place has become a place where people might encounter old friends at the next table and often make new ones.
Marks’ vision for the menu is to create dishes with a hint of French influence, balanced with some Asian accents, along with good old American – and some Italian – standbys, while keeping a significant vegetarian and gluten-free selection. Valuing fresh and local ingredients, Marks keeps its preparations on site, and offers significant variety from its tiny kitchen.
In 2010, Mark and Molly invited Marks’ general manager, Rachel Kolb, to become a shareholder, and Chef Zebedee Rogers joined the company in August of 2011, forming a dynamic, collegial team of talented, dedicated and experienced restaurateurs. The owners and staff invite Marks’ regulars and newcomers to come in to the home we have created and give us a chance to show you how much we appreciate our guests.
