The North Dining Room
|
Upon entering the restaurant, one can choose the main dining room, moving to the left, toward the wide expanse of windows, or the more intimate, semi-private dining room to the right.
Marks retained the original home’s formal dining room as a dining space that can hold up to 20 people in multiple configurations to serve parties of various sizes, or as a more quiet space for walk-in patrons. The room’s original built-in china cabinet stocked with bottles of wine provides a primary visual feature, and the maple wainscot paneling warms the mood of the room. Many families have gathered in the space celebrating all sorts of events, and business groups have enjoyed socializing and conducting business in this spacious, semi-private space. If only the walls could talk and tell us of all the special occasions that have been celebrated in that room over the past 105 years!

Marks also has several quiet and intimate private dining areas on an upper level.

The Parlor
|
Part of the original 1906 house, the upper level was initially single-family residential bedrooms, now converted into a living room/parlor area with a comfortable couch and upholstered chairs around a large central coffee table. The space is quiet, away from the festivity of the main dining room, which suits some groups looking for privacy, ambiance, and doting service.

Two private dining rooms flank the parlor, with the larger room holding up to 12 and the smaller one holding eight. In all, the capacity for sitdown dinners is 20 people, using both dining rooms. We provide table service just like on the main floor, or we can serve even more guests when set up buffet-style, with guests eating informally in the living/parlor area, in addition to the dining tables. The space also has its own private rest room.
Families especially enjoy gatherings in these private rooms, allowing children to move about, play, engage in other activities, without disturbing other guests.
Many professional groups also use the space for business meetings, planning sessions, and presentations.
Other parties that find their way to this space include baby showers, small rehearsal dinners, book clubs, investment clubs, birthday parties, holiday parties, cocktail parties and “surprise” parties.
These private spaces have become the favorite for many Marks regulars, as they are almost like dining at home – charming, intimate, and yet fully indulged with good service and Marks’ fine food.
