Hen of the Woods "Steak"

Cut your Hen of the Woods Mushroom into "steaks" or pieces approximately 1/2" thick.  Salt top and bottom.  Heat 2 T canola oil in a skillet (preferably cast iron).  When oil is very hot, add steaks and weigh down with a cast iron skillet or similar weight.  Sear for 4-6 minutes, and then flip and heat for another 3-5 minutes until heavily seared.  Remove from the pan and let rest (tented with foil).  Melt 3T butter in the pan you used to cook the mushrooms and add 4 T of Black Truffle Sauce.  Stir until heated through.  Pour sauce over your mushroom steak and enjoy.  We served it with roasted potatoes and a fried egg.
